MINDFUL ABSENTEEISM

Making a conscious choice to disconnect while still being present, mindful absenteeism (a term coined by my mother) is the practice I embody when creating a majority of my artwork. The intentional disconnection from my day and creating an artwork on a whim. It is experimenting and blending media that is sourced at random but composed with intent. Simply, it is my play time. Dadaist and Surrealist artists of the early 20th century influence my approach, and are referenced in the juxtaposition of media, imagery, and expression. I enjoy the opportunity these compositions provide for a viewer to build their own narrative and connections.
